Dear St. Mary of the Hills Family,
As a school community, we gathered together at the beginning of the school day on Monday to light the second candle on the Advent Wreath. Peace was the main focus during this week of Advent. When the angels appeared to the shepherds, they ended their message of rejoicing with, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests” (Luke 2:14). Students were asked how each one of us can be an instrument of God's peace. What actions can we take to show our love for God and promote peace within our homes, our school, our community and our world? Students were asked to reflect on this question and spend time during this Advent Season preparing for the most important and precious gift God would give humanity: his son, Jesus.
Grade 5 Mass
On Friday, our school community gathered together to celebrate Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, hosted by the fifth grade. We thank the fifth grade and their teacher, Mrs. Blaho, for preparing so well.
Blood Drive
Thank you to all who supported the Pints for Halfpints Blood Drive. Because of you, it was a huge success. Over thirty donors signed up to give the precious gift of blood on Friday. The middle school students are excited to plan another blood drive in the spring. This is a great example of stewardship.

Thank you to Coach Ara, Casey Breslin and Lauren Gabriel for an awesome Pep Rally!!
We are truly blessed here at St. Mary of the Hills School. There were so many things that we wanted to bring back to our school that we had prior to covid, but knew that it couldn't be done without the right people to run the programs. Two talented teachers stepped up to run the Cheer Team. Casey Breslin and Lauren Gabriel are not only top-notch gifted teachers in the ECC, but they are awesome Cheer coaches. They bring a wealth of talent to share with our students. They set the bar high and the Cheer Team was amazing at the Pep Rally on Friday.
We are truly grateful beyond measure to have Ara Asadoorian back to coach our CYO basketball team. The time and passion he has put into his team is awe-inspiring. When he began working with our students, he knew right away that he had a talented group of young men to work with. Our first game is at Immaculate Conception Parish in Weymouth this Sunday, December 11th at 3:00 p.m. We hope to see everyone there. Go Saints!!
Congratulations to our new Princesses
It is tradition at St. Mary of the Hills School to have a student princess appointed at our first Pep Rally. This year we are happy to announce that we have two princesses. Congratulations to Sarah Richards and Ava Myrthil, both in the fourth grade.
On behalf of our faculty and staff at St. Mary of the Hills School, I wish a blessed Advent Season to all of our families and friends. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, you can reach me by phone, email, or come in to see me at school.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Suzanne Banach
