3rd Grade
4th GradeIn Math, students are taught using the Common Core curriculum. The third grade students are introduced to fractions and decimals, and in fourth grade, multiplication concepts are reinforced and division is introduced. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are also strengthened while using games, hands-on activities, and projects to reinforce conceptual understanding. Classroom Chromebooks are used to introduce and practice new concepts. In Social Studies the students "travel" across the country by investigating the different regions of the United States learning about the geography, natural resources, economy, and history of each region. In Science, students learn about natural resources, space, and technology, along with different ecosystems, plants, and animals. The Religion curriculum supplies a balance of Scripture, doctrine, and morality. It also includes the Church as a community and emphasizes celebrations.
5th Grade
In 5th grade, students learn a variety of mathematical skills that are the foundation for higher-level math. Students build on their understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and introduce fractions as well as develop an understanding of customary and metric units of measure. Fifth graders are also exposed to graphing and interpreting data as well as basic geometry concepts, such as area, perimeter, and circumference. In Language Arts, students learn grammar skills and apply this knowledge to write with clear focus, coherent organization, and sufficient detail. In Religion, the students will increase their love for God and learn to serve not only themselves but others. Through text, bible readings, and conversations, each student will be empowered to be meaningful contributors in society, regardless of his/her ability and religious belief.
